On September 17 Concacaf made a statement about moving the Copa America Centenario from the United States to Mexico.

CONCACAF Statement

“Today in Mexico City, CONCACAF had a very productive meeting with CONMEBOL and our broadcast partners, Univision and Televisa, regarding the Copa America Centenario. While all parties recognize that there are still issues that must be resolved, we are all in alignment regarding the next steps to be taken as well as the aggressive timeline towards realizing our common goal of staging the Copa America Centenario in the United States. We remain committed to working with all parties to resolve outstanding issues and operational components of the tournament.”

“El día de hoy en la Ciudad de México, CONCACAF tuvo una reunión muy productiva con CONMEBOL y nuestros socios comerciales, Univision y Televisa, con respecto a la Copa América Centenario. Mientras que todas las partes reconocen que todavía hay asuntos que deben resolverse, todos estamos de acuerdo en los siguientes pasos a seguir, así como la agresiva línea del tiempo hacia nuestro objetivo común, el cual es organizar la Copa América Centenario en los Estados Unidos. Mantenemos nuestro compromiso de trabajar con todas las partes para resolver los asuntos pendientes y los componentes operativos del torneo".
