2 Important events taking place as Russia prepares for the FIFA World Cup 2018

The road to the World Cup 2018 in Russia begins today for the Aztec Warriors community. The hype has started as so many conversations have already been made on the number of family and friends that would like to join us. Since the demand is high, we understand that we will have to get started in our research and preparation earlier. So as our official post for this category on our site, we wanted to provide an update on 2 important events taking place as FIFA and Russia work together to stage the most important and popular sporting event in the world.

FIFA Stadium Inspections

A joint delegation of 40 experts made up of, FIFA, Russia 2018 Local Organising Committee (LOC) and Arena-2018 representatives have begun inspections on the stadiums in Russia. Below is the schedule of their tours.

Inspection schedule:

October 16: St. Petersburg
October 17: Kazan
October 18: Sochi
October 19: Moscow, Spartak Stadium
October 20: Moscow, Luzhniki Stadium
October 21–23: virtual inspection of the remaining 2018 FWC stadiums

According to news outlet Boxscore, FIFA said on Thursday that they are satisfied with the progress of the stadium of Zenit St Petersburg, which will host World Cup matches. 

"There are no major problems. I have no doubt that the stadium will be ready on time," said Christian Unger, head of the FIFA delegation that visits the World Cup sites.

Russia will unveil the Official Logo

The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Local Organising Committee (LOC) and FIFA will unveil the Official Emblem of Russia 2018 at a ceremony in Moscow on 28 October 2014.

The Chairman of the Russia 2018 LOC, Vitaly Mutko said:

“The emblem is the visual representation of the tournament. Winning the right to host the FIFA World Cup was a dream come true for millions of Russians. To creatively capture the essence of this remarkable historic moment inspiration was drawn from both Russia’s rich artistic tradition and its history of bold achievement and innovation,”
